Trafford Parsons

I make Art, passionate about Art , inspired by pop culture, music, film, fashion, style, stories, bands, night life, philosophy.

“As a boy I must have been bitten by radio active spiders from space equipped with a venom that enhanced the playful, creative artistic side of my brain and atrophied the logical conformist side..”

I love to go out to night clubs put on a big hat and dance all night.

Art is an expression of ideas and joy of life.

"There is no difference between high art or advertising, Galleries books magazines, street art music film fashion all enrich our soul and make us think... Art inspires us,  Art must mean something, say something "

I am very very dyslexic so please forgive me for steeling bits from what others have written about my art and me ...

Trafford Graduated Fine Art Goldsmiths University London 2003

While at Goldsmiths he developed his love of Pop art, often absurd surreal popular culture, ideas that guide his art work producing prints, films, sculptures, painting, collaborating with performers, musicians, dancers, designers across all disciplines .

After graduating he immediately started selling his limited edition prints and originals through the Affordable Art Fair and Wills Art,  Art republic in Brighton supported and sold a lot of his early work promoting his first solo show and the opening show at ink’d gallery Brighton 2005.

He worked with Pictures On Walls (Banksy), and was part Santa’s Ghetto show in 2006.

This was the start of seeing Trafford’s work all over the world, first with the Affordable Art Fair and then independent galleries that share his love of satire and fun..

Trafford is part of the generation of artists that see no strict limit to what is a gallery/art space  : Big Walls, shop shutters, hi-fi shops, furniture stores, hotels, offices, night clubs , student unions, concert halls.

Trafford makes pictures that allude to stories .... The work is a “what if”, and we the viewer get to join in on this idea.

There is often a very site specific intent to his street art ‘I painted Clint Eastwood on the outside of a tattoo studio in the wild west of Manchester – Swinton .  – once i get an idea the work makes itself ",

"streets can become art galleries, art can be everywhere, it can transform a space a wall a city. I painted Nico 100 feet high on the side of a recording studio in Manchester city centre, the place is often as important as the image, it's all part of the art. "

Wall art is a great adventure yet hand silk screen printing is a magical process  subverting an industrial production into a fine art objects "Out of all the stuff i make, the printing stands out for me, i love the individual yet industrial process, the collage, photos, drawing, text, details, bold colours, different colour ways  everything.   "the way so many of the things we rely on are printed ; money, tickets, t-shirts, books, magazines, art,  ideas are transmitted constructed in printed forms our imaginations make these images a reality "

Having started as a punk rocker playing in bands painting posters, printing Tee shirts, reconstructing and deconstructing street fashion, dancer, DJ, night club promoter, event producer, film maker, street/mural artist, fine art pop art printer, culture creative creature .

Now we need a word to describe the way all these things are one art practice, what art books would call a pop post modern situationist but Trafford lives in a faster pace world so 'Beautalist' . Trafford (2019) joined / co founded a group of like minded artists - The Beautalists .  More art, more mischief .
