From the Deer Hunter editions, this print has a white deer with silver butterflies on a blue background. The image of the deer is from a plastic deer head i found on the beast market in Huddersfield, in fact I have a small collection of them on my kitchen wall. This hand made Screen Print is inspired by the painting I did on Oldham st, Manchester as part of a Lowbrow Art gentrification show in the Northern Quarter of Manchester. The aim of the show was to mix funky Surrealism with street art and make the street my gallery. Painting Trophy Deer heads was perfect for this inside, outside, traditional art show, new street art, urban yet great outdoors mashup. This image draws on the history of hunting and trophies and collecting nature and is in itself a comment on perceptions of street art as wild and dangerous, are we on the wild frontier or in the streets of Manchester and whats the difference.
